Come Away O Human Child
Come Away O Human Child
To the Water and the Wild
With a Faery hand in hand
For the World's more full of Weeping than you can Understand
- William Butler Yeats
I have always longed to leave this world. To escape to another and forget the life I had here. With a faerie hand in hand, I would go and never come back. But I am bound by the ones I love here, whether they love me or not. I am trapped, a human child that made too many mistakes too early, living full of painful regret. I wish I could find that other world, one where the meadow stretches for miles, punctuated only by the woods and the forests, with a sparkling river that ends in a waterfall, where faeries dance by day and night, and berries are our food, where memory grows thin because you have eternity, and God strolls in the fields nearby.
The World's more full of pain than I can understand. I'm not afraid, just hurting. I would say a thousand things if the one they were meant for were here to hear them, but they would mean one thing.
I'll Come Away a Human Child
To the Water and the Wild
If I Can with a Faerie Hand in Hand
For the World's More Full of Pain than I Can Understand
