Drama, Drama Everywhere and Not a Bit Relief
Hi everyone, I got into my fair share of trouble this week as usual, but this time I wasn't looking. I had been suffering from headaches for a few days. I visited TreatHeadaches for some natural remedies and they seemed to work, so I just ignored them from there. I didn't think much of it at this point, truth be told. My friend had recommended a jack herer strain of cannabis for my headaches, as it's been associated with pain relief. However, like I said, I didn't think much of the pain and assumed it would disappear in due time. Then, there I was at work minding my business, when suddenly I was beset by a really bad headache on the right side of my head. I thought the headache would clear up as the others did, but it didn't, and then I started seeing spots, and then all of a sudden, I couldn't see out of my right eye! I tried to lie down or rest or something, but it kept getting worse. I was running a fever, and I felt dizzy and disoriented, plus my arms and legs were shaking. Sitting down in my boss's office, I suddenly felt nauseous. I told a friend at work, and she ran to get a bucket but I just couldn't hold it in try as I might, and I vomited all over my boss's office! *hides face in shame*
If you think that was bad, I collapsed onto the floor next and began to shake. I know this reads like an action movie, but this is actually what did happen. My boss piled me into his car (I got to ride in the jag, yay! Damn! Too bad I couldn't appreciate it) and drove me to the Emergency Room where an Indian doctor with nice intentions told me I had to have a lumbar puncture, upon which I burst into tears. There is NO WAY I'm having a ten inch needle puncture my spine and drain some of my spinal fluid. Luckily I didn't need the LP anymore because my fever came down. I did have to get a CAT scan though, and a barrage of blood tests and other stuff.
What was the final diagnosis??? A simple UTI!!! A UTI is an infection of the urinary tract, which includes the bladder and urethra. They are very common and occur when bacteria enter the urethra. They are different to a yeast infection, although they have similar symptoms. Apparently, I'd had a UTI that had no symptoms, so I'd had it for a while it built into a mega-fever that caused all the shaking and the headaches and semi-blindness, so now I'm on antibiotics and I hope that in ten days, everything will have cleared up. If I'd have had a doubt in the first place that it was a UTI, I would have visited a urologist to get it treated quickly. At least I know for next time that fever is one of the symptoms...I didn't know they could be so severe!
The Vicodin they gave me at the hospital made me pretty woozy, and I almost faceplanted in the waiting room because suddenly I didn't know what to do with my legs, but I returned to work yesterday, even though now I'm regretting it because all my symptoms came back. Could it be environmental? (Lol, I've been watching too much House. I find myself analyzing things now like I were a doctor). But seriously, if there's something in the air at work that's aggravating my symptoms then I want to know about it.
At least I got something useful done at work yesterday. I'm doing a custom t-shirt for a guy I met at work, and then I'm creating the huge summer collection for Barcelagos. [One day I will tell you the story behind the name]. There's a little sub-set of summer t-shirts I'm doing called Nigerian Vintage Vehicles, and this is one of them:
[Note: The ones for Men are probably a lot cooler, anyway, this one costs $16.90]
